Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
