The Gory Cartoon Movie Ending That Haunts Fans

Out of every mature cartoon movies I have ever viewed, nothing has remained with me as much as the fear-filled ending of the graphically gory and highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, this Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, melancholy and often savage world that included some tiny , desolate hints of hope.

While The Unicorn Wars seems like it stemmed from a drive to advance the medium even more, the director stated that it was rather a try to communicate a widespread, multicultural theme concerning “the common origin of each battle.”

That idea is conveyed by means of a group of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly inspired by a well-known line of lovable figures.

Maturing in a society built around militarism and the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are fixated on slaughtering unicorns, due to a holy book that claims the bears they used to be masters of the woods, before the unicorns expelled them.

Others haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, and choose to try out drugs and fornicate in the woods.

Unlike their gentle counterparts, these colorful critters show sexual organs and clear libidos.

For one particularly cruel, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the war with unicorns becomes a road to power — and especially to dominance over his gentler, kinder brother the character Tubby.

Bluey is a bully , a seeming psychopath , and as fear dominates his squad and kills his comrades one by one, he seizes more and more control for himself, via progressively bloody, damaging approaches.

Simultaneously, the unicorns are enduring their own horror, as an expanding, harmful creature in their forest.

“At the beginning, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the director said. “But then it evolves into a more dramatic and melancholic film. And ultimately, it transforms into a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like among the whimsical movies by a legendary animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in permitting drawn beings swear, shoot each other, or engage sexually.

Then it becomes something more like a darker movie by that same director, featuring progressively graphic violence and a palpable relation to the actual horror of battle.

By the end, it becomes a complete theatrical horror carnage.

The horror which makes this an ideal spooky-season watch begins much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for lovers of graphic films who wish to see a movie they’ve never viewed until now, and who can handle a plot which delivers absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dimly lit space without any distractions, and the finale will crawl deep within you and take up residence there.
