The President Welcomes Families of Attacked Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Event
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Response
Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to help others.”
Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Government Changes
Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The tragedy led the government to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
