The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The track showcases a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the project have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from later in the month.
