Revealed 17 minutes ago
English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The three contenders were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.
This year's winner will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be broadcast from seven in the evening GMT.
Agyemang's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.
She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.
"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Littler's Profile
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in incredible form as - while still 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
His success continued - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
The Cricket Sensation
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and surged to prominence with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin came in second place in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
